Fiona is the most recent addition to the NRG team, joining July 2018. With experiences running different instruments, she is interested in applying analytical techniques to natural health product research to expand her knowledge base in this sector.
Fiona completed her chemistry degree at UBC Okanagan campus in Kelowna, focusing her research on the role of beta-Methylamino-L-alanine (BMAA) and its naturally occurring isomers found in cyanobacteria and its interactions in neurodegenerative diseases. During her undergraduate term, she developed skills in method development, method validation and environmental analysis using ultra performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS).
Fiona also has expertise on the maintenance of different analytical instruments. Fiona is looking forward to her time with NRG to develop her knowledge on different analytical instrumentation and collaboration on different projects.
