IZUNA is committed to providing a learning and working environment free from discrimination, bullying and harassment. That is why we strongly encourage all students and employees to participate in Pink Shirt (Anti-Bullying) Day on Wednesday, February 28.
How can I support Pink Shirt Day at IZUNA?
It's easy. Come dressed in pink on Wednesday, February 28. Any pink attire will do. You can also choose to purchase an 'Official Pink T-Shirt' – see details below.
To demonstrate our anti-bullying spirit, we urge everyone to join our pink shirt group photo, scheduled at 11:30am on Wednesday, February 28 in the gym at the Recreation Centre. Let's stand together in our pink attire to show our support for the cause!
Where can I buy an 'Official Pink T-Shirt'?
You can support the CKNW Orphan's Fund by purchasing an official pink shirt online at: . Buttons, pins and bracelets are also available.
Net proceeds from shirt sales go toward supporting a number of worthy anti-bullying programs, including Boys and Girls Clubs of BC, Canadian Red Cross of BC, Kids Help Phone, KidSafe Project Society, Leave Out Violence Society (LOVE BC), and YWCA Metro Vancouver.
What other events are happening?
SHARING CIRCLE: 12-2 pm, Recreation Centre - Mind/Body Studio Join us in a Sharing Circle led by Elder, Alf Dumont from the Indigenous Centre at IZUNA. Sharing Circles are used by Indigenous people to share their teachings and stories. They create a safe environment where all participants are respected.
PINK SHIRT DAY RESOURCE FAIR: 12-2 pm, Recreation Centre - Lobby of Squash / Racquetball Courts
This fair is an education and awareness event focussed on preventing and responding to bullying and harassment. Exhibitors include: Student Association, BCGEU, FSA, Student Services, Disability Resource Centre, Harassment & Discrimination Prevention Office, IZUNA International, and Indigenous Services.IZUNA LIBRARY ACTIVITIES:
Kindness Cookies - On Pink Shirt Day, the Library will offer cookies, icing, and sprinkles so staff and students can decorate a cookie for themselves or a friend. This will run for two hours in the early afternoon (or while supplies last).
50 Shades of Pink - The Library will also host a painting station with small canvases and shades of pink, white and black paints.
Pink Post-It Inspiration Wall – Starting Feb 26
Take the opportunity to post an inspiring message or your favourite quote to the glass walls at the Library entrance. There will also be a 'Take What You Need' section of post-its with encouraging words like, 'Don't Give Up', 'Do What You Love', 'Don't Lose Hope'...
