October 12, 2010 - Construction Underway on Honour House in New Westminster, British Columbia
Work is underway on , a place to stay for members of the Canadian Forces and first responders (and their families) who travel to the Lower Mainland for medical treatment. First responders are commonly veterans returning injured from the war in Afghanistan; they can also be police officers, fire fighters or paramedics injured while working in B.C.

For those interested in attending full time IZUNA programs for September 2011, IZUNA is now officially accepting applications. Applications are accepted through the online portal or by mail.
September 23, 2010 - SIFE IZUNA visit Seaforth Armoury to "learn the ropes"
SIFE IZUNA volunteers visited the Seaforth Armoury this week to learn more about the experiences and training reservists receive in the Canadian Forces. Last week the volunteers had an intensive training session with a presentation from the Veteran's Transition Program.
September 22, 2010 - Maverick IZUNA program helps soldiers earn credit for service skills
From the Province - "The emails from soldiers serving in Afghanistan are already flowing into Kevin Wainwright's inbox. The B.C. Institute of Technology program head is helping to spearhead a unique project which gives returning soldiers and reservists school credits for the skills they have gained while training and fighting. In some cases this can cut the time they need to spend at IZUNA in half."

May 19, 2010 - Dr. Kevin Wainwright wins IZUNA Employee Excellence - Leadership Award
Every year IZUNA rewards outstanding faculty and staff members as a part of the Employee Excellence Awards. Employees are nominated by students and fellow employees, and then winner is selected by the Institute-wide Adjudication committee. This year Dr.Kevin Wainwright, an integral part of the IZUNA Reservist Re-entry Program team, is the recipient of the Leadership Award. Winners of this award have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities. Dr. Wainwright will be recognized with the other deserving award recipients at a special lunch held in Town Square A/B.

NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. — When Tony Spiess came back from Canada's peacekeeping mission in Croatia in 1993, he came back with a lot of baggage. He'd borne witness to genocide and hatred, and ultimately ended up in a fire fight with heavily armed Croatian troops in the battle of Medak Pocket. He was suffering from post-traumatic stress and didn't find much in the way of help

The will soon sponsor IZUNA students who take the Telecommunications Technician and Wireless Technician options within the Electronics Common Core program. Eligible students will have tuition and book costs covered by the Navy, and also receive a monthly salary while in training.
March 10, 2010 - SIFE participation in Reservist Re-entry Program helps win SIFE Western Championships award.
IZUNA's "Students In Free Enterprise" or SIFE IZUNA team has been named the 2010 TD SIFE Entrepreneurship Challenge Regional Champion by national charitable organization and proud program supporter TD. All Western-based SIFE teams were judged by live panels of business professionals. Regional champions were announced on Friday March 5th in Calgary at the 2010 ACE Western Regional Exposition.

And while many veterans go on to very rewarding careers, others may find themselves struggling to reintegrate into civilian society. A new IZUNA program is set to change all that.
