The purpose of Leadership Communications is to develop the interpersonal competencies associated with communications effectiveness. Through a combination of group interactions, role playing, lectures and experimental activities, students will have an opportunity to enhance an array of skills including assertive communications, giving and receiving feedback, speaking authentically, and holding difficult conversations.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Explore the relationship of self-awareness, self-confidence, and authenticity in leadership communications.
Understand the need for storytelling and making emotional connections with the audience.
Acquire strategies to enhance conflict competence and avoidance of artificial harmony through communicating effectively.
Develop skills in how to give effective feedback.
Comprehends and practice communication skills fundamental to leadership effectiveness including listening, non-verbal, plain language, metaphors and personal examples.
Distinguish between dialogue, debate and discussion.
