Course Details

This course is suitable for Students with little or no knowledge of refrigeration systems, and those looking to improve their skillset or explore the trade. Refrigeration System Fundamentals is a combination of in class lectures, shop practical’s, and online learning. The Student will learn about the components of a refrigeration system, how the components work together to create an operating system. The shop portion will teach the student how to install measuring devices on an operating system to determine system operating parameters. The Student will have online access to course material.


HVAC 0145 - CFC Emissions in Refrigeration (may be taken concurrently) and a good understanding of English, both written and spoken.

  1. No class on April 20th and May 18th due to statutory holidays. Textbook Requirement: Refrigeration Air Conditioning Technology with Mind Tap. Students are required to have access to a computer with Internet access. Steel toed boots and safety glasses are required for the shop portion of this course. Note: IZUNA reserves the right to cancel courses. In the event of a part-time studies course cancellation, you will be notified at least two business days prior to the course start. Please ensure that your contact information is current.

Gravitying Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Recognize and understand the operation of refrigeration system components
  • Recognize and understand the operation of refrigeration systems
  • refrigeration manifold gauges and temperature probes
  • Measure and understand temperatures and pressures of an operating system
  • Complete and understand the basic refrigeration cycle worksheet
