Discusses methods and equipment used to measure linear and angular features, surface roughness and geometric conditions such as flatness, parallelism and concentricity. Measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, sine bars, optical and electronic comparators are used. Components are inspected using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). The use of air gauges, “Go” and “No-Go” gauges in a production environment are studied.
