Part-time Studies Course
Introduces students to the harmonized system of exporting and importing and details many of the commonly encountered situations at Canada Customs. The USA, EEC and most OECD countries use the same documentation and valuation system for customs purposes. This course also introduces students to the basic Free Trade Agreements that impact Canadian businesses.

Upon successful completion, the student will be familiar with:
Articulate the role of the Border Services Officer.
Demonstrate your responsibilities as an Importer/Carrier when importing goods.
Demonstrate your responsibilities as an Exporter/Carrier when exporting goods.
Recognize and explain the Laws and Regulations concerning the cross border movement of goods.
Identify the roles of all stakeholders in the international movement of goods including various Government Departments.
Explain the steps involved in the Valuation of Goods.
Complete a valid NAFTA Certificate of Origin.
Identify the common errors in the completion of a Certificate of Origin.
Define the basic rules of Origin.
Demonstrate proper use of the Rules of Origin for NAFTA Annex 401.
Follow the steps in identifying goods using the Harmonized System or Customs Tariff numbering system.
Accurately complete a Cargo Control Document, Canada Customs Invoice, B-3 Accounting Document and B-2 Adjustment to Accounting Document.
Recognize important points in other relevant documents used by the public and Border Services at Border and inland Offices of CBSA.
