The 50 hour course introduces students to the material covered in the Electrical Apprenticeship Level 1 program and the Electrical Foundation program. Course topics include basic mathematical concepts, physics, use of scientific calculator functions that pertain to the program, detailed circuit analysis of various types of direct-current electrical systems and magnetic circuit principles.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Transpose mathematical equations.
Use a calculator to solve mathematical problems as they pertain to electrical circuits.
Identify basic atomic structure and how it relates to electricity.
Explain Ohm’s law, Watt’s law and Kirchhoff’s laws.
Explain the fundamentals of direct current.
Describe the operating principles of series circuits.
Analyze series circuits.
Describe the operating principles of parallel circuits.
Analyze parallel circuits.
Describe the operating principles of combination circuits.
Analyze combination circuits.
Describe the operating principles of three-wire circuits.
Analyze three-wire circuits.
Describe the characteristics of electrical conductors.
