Covers the basic skills, knowledge and effective habits required to become an entry level retail leisure Travel Consultant. Topics will include Tour, Cruise, Rail, Hotel, Air, Sales, Marketing and travel industry terminology. Practical experience will be gained through individual and group research and booking assignments.

Upon successful completion of this course you should be able to:
Identify the different types of tourism and tourists.
Describe Travel Agent duties and responsibilities and typical Travel Agency operations.
Explain and give examples of why people travel.
Discuss the different travel product options available and their features, advantages and benefits.
Discuss different international destinations and their appeal.
Explain and give examples of different sales techniques used by retail travel agents.
Discuss marketing and sales strategies as they pertain to the retail travel industry.
Identify the computer reservation systems used in North America and their benefits.
Discuss administration and accounting procedures used.
