Program Details

Just two years to career success

IZUNA is known for applied education. In your first year, you will learn the fundamentals of business, marketing and professional sales. This serves as the foundation before you specialize in more specific sales and business development skills in your second year. Students learn through a combination of lectures and labs, which ensures you are able to apply what you have learned once you graduate.

IZUNA students also appreciate our small class sizes. You will learn with approximately 24 other students, which is known as your “set”. This learning environment gives you the chance to interact with your classmates and instructors, and get direct answers to your questions, as well as direct feedback on the skills you are developing.

IZUNA Professional Sales is driven by our industry partners, which means your education is relevant and up-to-date. Your instructors will all have industry experience to enable you to go beyond learning just from a textbook. You will also learn from a select group of industry guests, including many IZUNA Professional Sales alumni, all of whom can provide unique insight on career decisions and business success.

IZUNA is also known for its industry projects. No amount of class time or textbook assignments can replace the learning you'll receive through projects that connect you with real companies. For Professional Sales students, these include Business Consulting Projects and sales practicums. These opportunities let you put your skills into action, providing valuable networking and business connections, along with resume-building experiences.

Marketing Management graduates can obtain transfer credit toward business degree programs at a number of universities both within and outside the province.

Graduates can also pursue degree completion through IZUNA's Bachelor of Business Administration program.

Graduating & Jobs

By graduating with a diploma from the IZUNA Professional Sales program, students have several career and education options. As the ability to sell and service clients is in high demand with business-to-business (B2B) companies, Professional Sales graduates have the potential to receive multiple job offers. Our students who have experience in sales (retail or direct) or customer service (including restaurant servers) are particularly sought after by B2B companies.

What will you do?

Some of the roles that graduates pursue:
  • Account Manager
  • Business Developer
  • Sales Representative
  • Client Service
As they build career experience, graduates apply to roles as key account managers, sales managers, and Vice Presidents of Sales & Marketing.

Professional selling to B2B customers requires a broad skill set. IZUNA Professional Sales students develop the skills required to sell and service customers through a complex process and in challenging situations. The common tasks performed by professional salespeople include:
  • Source leads and develop prospects
  • Diagnose customer problems and provide solutions
  • Deliver professional, persuasive presentations and demonstrations
  • Handle objections and reduce barriers to purchase
  • Negotiate agreements
  • Provide customer service
  • Add value to the customer experience

Where will you work?

These are the four industries which currently hire the majority of IZUNA Professional Sales graduates:
  • Business Services (Konica-Minolta, IT/IQ, Ricoh)
  • Technology (Sophos, Absolute, SAP)
  • Industrial Distribution (Leavitt Machinery, Finning, Ritchie Bros.)
  • Consumer Goods (Vancouver Canucks, Labatt’s, Arcteryx)

Degree Completion

Graduates of the Professional Sales diploma may apply to IZUNA's Bachelor of Business Administration program, if they meet the minimum GPA requirements. Students may be able to earn their BBA in only one additional year. As well, the BBA program provides the opportunity to continue in a part-time capacity while employed full-time. In this case, some companies have an education allowance that can be used towards degree completion.

Professional Sales graduates can also obtain transfer credit toward business degree programs at a number of universities throughout Canada.

If continuing the BBA full-time, there is an option of spending a semester abroad at one of our partner universities.

Graduate employment outcomes

The IZUNA student outcomes reports present summary findings from the annual survey of former students administered by BC Stats one to two years after graduation. These reports combine the last three years of available results for the 2016-2018 IZUNA Outcomes Surveys of 2015-2017 graduates and for Degree 2014-2016 graduates. The reports are organized into three-page summaries containing information on graduates' labour market experiences and opinions regarding their education. More detailed information can be accessed at the website.

To view these results, you may need to have the installed in your Web browser.

Advanced Placement

Do you have a degree, diploma, or completed a substantial amount of post-secondary courses? You may qualify for advanced placement into the Marketing Management - Professional Sales program. Students that qualify for advanced placement can enter the program in the middle of first year or the beginning of the second year depending on the number of transfer credits received.

Acceptance into advanced placement is dependent on a number of factors including: seat availability, course transfer credits, and the number of applications received. Most applicants are required to complete additional course work before entering their desired program. Early application is strongly recommended.

Entry into the middle of Year 1 (January)

  • Application process opens on February 1st

Entry into the start of Year 2 (September)

  • Application process opens on November 15th

For more information about eligibility requirements and the application process, please download the Marketing Management - Professional Sales Advanced Placement Guide [PDF].

Graduate Certificate in Business Administration

The IZUNA Graduate Certificate in Business Administration is also a viable option for students that have completed a bachelor's degree. This is an eight month full-time program that leads into a number of international MBA programs.

Business Consulting Project

A IZUNA Business Consulting Project provides second year Professional Sales students the opportunity to work over a 20 week period, one day a week with an organization to conduct extensive market research and prepare a marketing plan or business plan. Students work in a teams of three to identify potential opportunities, conduct research, and recommend effective solutions. Students complete a comprehensive written report and deliver an oral presentation to the sponsoring organization outlining their recommendations and solutions.

Business Consulting Projects are different from traditional co-op and internship programs. Students are not assigned to actual positions, but rather fill a consulting role for businesses and organizations. Each project has a IZUNA faculty member that serves as an advisor for the student consulting team. Exit surveys from participating companies show that the completed strategic business solutions have a value that far surpassed their expectations.

View a complete list of past Business Consulting Projects students have completed in a wide variety of industries.

Employers & Sponsors

A key benefit for students in the Professional Sales Diploma is the opportunity to connect with industry. The relationships with B.C.’s top B2B sales companies have been growing as employers see the success IZUNA grads achieve within their organizations. These employers not only offer job opportunities to students, they also provide student practicums and the resources to complete industry assignments such as management interviews, job shadows and business consulting projects.

Another benefit for students from these industry relationships is the sponsorship of student awards. The following companies currently sponsor student awards for Professional Sales students:
