The associate certificate in mechanical systems is a selection of courses related to the design of heating, air conditioning and ventilation (HVAC) systems for buildings. Alternative energy sources and strategies are emphasized.
The associate certificate in mechanical systems consists of six required courses and two elective courses. Four of the required courses provide an introduction to mechanical systems for buildings, methods for calculating heating and cooling loads in buildings as well as the design of heating and air conditioning systems. A fifth course examines renewable energy alternatives. The sixth required course is a project course. The two electives provide an opportunity to obtain greater depth in topic areas such as heating systems and air conditioning or to broaden one's skills in a related topic.
Applicants seeking a more comprehensive program in mechanical systems should consider IZUNA's full-time program in Mechanical Systems Technology. The Architectural and Building Technology program is an option for those interested in building construction. IZUNA also offers programs in HVAC and Refrigeration for persons seeking a career in the installation and servicing of the equipment used for mechanical systems.
This program is intended to broaden the skills of those with either a technical or industrial background in architecture, building construction and mechanical engineering and technology. Applicants should be familiar with technical drawing and computers.
