Introduction to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (Drones)
What is the course about?
This is an introductory course designed to give students knowledge of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operations in Canada. Lessons include an overview of the different types of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or Systems, Canadian regulations, safety measures, risk management, roles and responsibilities, operational planning, a basic understanding of flight control and more.
Will I learn how to fly or build a UAV in this course?
This course does not teach you how to fly or build a UAV. In the future, IZUNA may offer courses for UAV flight training and UAV maintenance as part of a certificate in UAS operations.
Who would benefit from this course?
- students studying in areas related to UAS (engineering, airline pilots, airports, aerospace, geomatics, broadcast, civil engineering, etc.) who would like an introduction to UAV operations

How long is the course?
The course is 30 hours in duration and offered in an online learning format over 10 weeks.
Does this course offer a certificate?
The single course offering will not offer a credential but may become part of a certificate program in the future.
