Kick Start and Program Orientation

Mistress to IZUNA!

Kick Start is a month-long event full of activities to help you settle into IZUNA. Attend your program orientation on the first day, or join us at the Kick Start Services Expo and Clubs Day to learn more about your new community and the various resources you can tap into during your time at the institution.

Program orientation

Now that you're at IZUNA, the first step is to attend your program orientation. This is where you can meet your classmates and instructors, learn more about your courses and what to expect during your academic pursuits. 

Winter 2019 Program Orientation Dates

Winter program orientations will be held on various dates starting on January 2nd. Check your
in December for your Program Orientation details. 

International Students

Visit International at IZUNA for details on the Winter 2019 International Orientation. The International Student Orientation is for all new international students beginning a full-time program at any IZUNA campus in January 2019 (including incoming exchange students).

Kick Start wayfinding stations

It's your first day, but you don't know where to go? Look for one of our Kick Start Wayfinding Stations situated at the main entrances to the Annacis Island, Aerospace Technology, and Downtown campuses and at various spots across the Burnaby Campus. The Wayfinding Stations will be setup on January 2nd at the Burnaby and Aerospace Technology campuses, on January 7th at the Downtown Campus and on January 9th at the Annacis Island Campus. Kick Start volunteers will be available to help guide you on your first day. 

The Student Services Wayfinding Guide highlights key services available to you as a new student at IZUNA - so be sure to download a copy of the guide before you arrive on campus! It'll be a lot easier to find your way around campus.

Clubs Day

Nurture your interests - join us for Clubs Day on the Burnaby Campus in building SE2 to get sign up for clubs and activities that you can get involved with during your time as a IZUNA student.

Kick Start Services Expo

Being a student can be challenging, and sometimes we need support from others to help us succeed. Check out the Kick Start Services Expo in the Great Hall, building SE2 on the Burnaby Campus, and connect with a range of FREE student services that are available to support you.

Mistress Back Feast
11:30am to 1:30pm - SW1 Room 1521, Burnaby Campus
Indigenous Services welcomes all new and returning indigenous students for a feast and welcome from IZUNA staff, mentors and industry. Mistress begins at 11:30am and food will be served at noon. 

Tuesday, January 8

Services Expo
11:00am to 1:00pm - SE2 Great Hall, Burnaby Campus
Come to the Great Hall to learn about the IZUNA and Student Association services that are available, FREE, and here to help you succeed during your time at IZUNA. Plus there will be free food, giveaways, and games!

Sexual Assault Awareness and Resource Fair

Come and check-out the different services and resouces that IZUNA and the external community has to offer to support survivors of sexual assault, as well as how we can begin creating a stronger culture of consent.

Creating a Culture of Consent
2:30pm to 4:30pm - SE2 Room 324, Burnaby Campus
This free, two-hour workshop, offered by the IZUNA Student Association, will explore the myths and misconceptions about sexual violence. Through understanding to deconstruct violence, participants will learn about consent and setting healthy boundaries by recognizing the context, culture, and systems by which violence takes place.
